Sita Sharma was the girlfriend of Jackie Merrick. They met when he was a patient in hospital after a motorbike accident. Sita worked as a nurse at the hospital and was the daughter of a doctor. When Jackie recovered, he and Sita planned to marry. In December 1985 she accused Jackie of trying to rush her into marriage. This made them drift apart. He started spying on her. In January 1986, Jackie went to see Sita but saw her going home with another man, whom she kissed goodnight to. Jackie confronted Sita, and called her a harsh name which made her slap him. They both decided to break up, and parted ways for good.

- Despite having the same surname as them, Sita Sharma bears no relation to the Sharma family of present day Emmerdale.
- Mamta Kash appeared as Nurse Graham a few episodes prior to appearing as Sita.
