Sweden is a Scandinavian country in Northern Europe. It borders Norway to the west and north, Finland to the east, and is connected to Denmark in the southwest. The capital and largest city is Stockholm.
Emmerdale history[]
- March 1977 - Swedish tourists Olof and Asta Gunnarson came to Beckindale and stayed with Amos Brearly and Henry Wilks at The Woolpack.
- May 1977 - Olof and Asta's father arrived in the village to personally thank Matt Skilbeck for saving his kids when they were involved in a pot-holing accident in March.
- June-August 1994 - Swedish man Sven Olsen stayed in Emmerdale where he formed a relationship with Lynn Whiteley until they both left the village for Australia with Lynn's son Peter.
- September 2016 - Charity Dingle planned to leave Emmerdale with her sons, Noah and Moses, for Sweden but later changed her mind.
Real-life[]
Emmerdale is hugely popular in Sweden where it is known as Hem till gården ("Home to the farm"). It is the most-watched daytime non-news programme in the country. It began airing in Sweden on public channel TV2 in 1975 but switched to commercial channel TV4 in 1994.
