Sylvia Gibson is the wife of John Gibson and the mother of Anthony Gibson. Sylvia took a big liking to Anthony's fiancee Melanie, however John didn't so he sent Anthony to England to find a new wife. Sylvia disapproved and told John that she feels ashamed of him, but she's used to it, however she expected Anthony to have more grit.
Sylvia and John were initially shocked to meet Mandy Dingle, but Sylvia enjoyed when Mandy made clear their relationship was just to punish John. However, Sylvia said that if John does not allow Anthony and Melanie to marry, she will want a divorce. Sylvia got on the stage and announced (on John's behalf) that John had "decided" to give Anthony and Melanie his blessing, leaving Vic Windsor and Terry Woods fuming.
