The Limo Crash was a disastrous event that occurred on the 14th February 2025 when several villagers headed for a night out in separate limousines, but the night went horribly wrong when both limos crashed, with one of them plunging into an ice covered lake, leaving that group stranded and in danger.

Build-up[]
On 13th February, Suzy Merton hosted Valentine raffle competition to win a night out in a limo at The Woolpack. She draws the winner - Kerry who plans a ladies' night and invites some female villagers to come. Liam originally planned to propose to Chas if he won a limo but following his disappointment of not winning the raffle, Liam decided to plan a night out for a male villagers. Elsewhere, Caleb discovers Cain slept with his wife Ruby on the day of Cain’s wife Moira's operation and plans to set Cain up for Ruby's dad Anthony Fox's murder. The police arrive at the garage where they arrest Cain for Anthony's disappearance. As Cain was taken into police custody, Caleb plants Anthony's tooth in Cain's boot but his plan backfires when his and Cain's nephew Aaron Dingle discovered Caleb's plan and removed the tooth from the boot before the police could conduct a search.
Leyla Harding finds a bag of cocaine she found in her son Jacob Gallagher's bag and confronts him at The Hide where he was having drinks with his colleague Rich Thompson, his girlfriend Sarah Sugden and Noah Dingle but Rich reveals the drugs were his. Jacob is annoyed that Leyla doesn't trust him enough and accuses her of embarrassing him. He stings her with his words and takes the powder from her, not trusting her to get rid of it herself due to her previous addiction. Later, Rich flirted with Belle King who wasn't interested in him. When he bought Belle a drink, she said she didn’t want it so Noah took the drink instead.
The Event[]
On 14th February 2025, Suzy and Leyla learned that they had booked the limos but no drivers and Liam had the same problem. Charity Dingle agreed that she and her husband, Mackenzie Boyd would drive the limos in exchange for a box of leftover champagne that Leyla had. As they prepared to set off, Mackenzie arranged for Caleb to drive the limo, so he could sit in the back, while Vinny Dingle arrived but was too drunk to go and had to be taken home by his mother, Mandy. Charity refused to move the limo until Mandy returned, blocking the men’s limo from leaving in the process. When Mandy came back she went to see her husband, Paddy in the men’s limo but Liam told her to take his place as he went to talk to his girlfriend Chas in the ladies limo. Everyone was in a hurry to leave and Liam was forced to stay with the women as Charity drove off.
While driving through dark country roads, the drivers of both limos became distracted. Caleb became enraged as he saw Cain having fun with his family and angrily revealed that he knew Cain had slept with Ruby. Everyone then turned on Cain as Caleb shouted at him. He pressed the accelerator as he drove and they almost hit an oncoming lorry but Caleb managed to swerve them into a ditch. In the ladies limo, Suzy was being offhand with Vanessa and Liam got up to propose to Chas. Then Charity saw her son, Noah Dingle, stumble into the path of the limo and she veered to avoid him, leading to the limo crashing into an icy lake.
At the men’s limo, it was revealed that everyone was fine but they had a flat tyre, which Cain fixed. Caleb and Cain continued throwing jibes at each other until Mandy told them to go deal with it. Once they were alone, Caleb told Cain that he had set him up for Anthony’s murder before beating him badly. In the women’s limo, Suzy had hit her head in the crash and despite Liam’s attempts to revive her, she had passed away. Kerry had broken her leg and Leyla had a piece of glass embedded in her side, causing her to lose blood. Charity then climbed out of the half submerged limo and carefully crossed the ice to go find Noah. The others decided they had to get out and all made the perilous journey across the ice. Liam was the first and got to safety, followed by Chas, who fell through the ice and was left clinging on to the ice to stop herself from going under. She then managed to drag herself out of the hole and Liam helped her get to solid ground. Vanessa and her sister Tracy went next, after spending some time convincing a devastated Vanessa to leave Suzy’s body by reminding her she had to live for her son, Johnny. Liam then collapsed from the head injury he sustained in the crash and Vanessa did her best to help him as Amy walked across the ice. Unfortunately, the ice gave way and Amy was plunged into the freezing water, where she glimpsed a body. She almost drowned but Tracy reached in to pull her out. In the limo, Leyla encouraged Kerry to go and showed her the glass in her stomach, saying she wasn’t going to make it. However, Kerry refused to accept this and pulled Leyla out of the limo, then dragged her across the ice. Meanwhile, Charity had found Noah passed out in some nearby woods. She tried to call for emergency services, but had to walk for a while to find service. Eventually, ambulances arrived and everyone was taken to hospital.
The occupants of the men’s limo had returned home. Caleb confronted Ruby over her infidelity and stormed out. Cain also confessed to Moira, who left to go see Ruby, leading to them having an honest conversation. Mack and Matty were at the pub, where they got the call about the accident, as did Cain and he took his son Kyle to see his mother, Amy at the hospital. Jacob was on shift at the hospital when he saw Charity and Noah, which lead to him learning about the accident. He went to find Leyla but was distraught upon discovering her body in the morgue. Amy seemed to be recovering as the doctors tried to warm her up and everyone was hopeful that she would be fine after she squeezed Kyle’s hand. However, she went into cardiac arrest while with her husband Matty, after trying to tell him about the body and saying she loved him, and she passed away. Chas struggled with a back injury and talked to a guilt ridden Charity. Later Charity was also told that Noah had drugs in his system and became convinced he was spiked. Liam soon woke up and Chas proposed back to him which he accepted.
Aftermath[]
The day after, Jacob blamed Noah for his mother’s death after learning he was the reason Charity swerved the limo and almost attacked him. Charity accused Jacob’s friend Rich of spiking Noah, but later believed that Joe Tate was responsible, which was correct, though she didn’t know that. Kyle was devastated after losing Amy and this was made worse when Mackenzie brought up Cain cheating on Moira in front of him. Caleb continued to argue with Cain and this almost lead to Anthony’s murder being exposed. Vicar, Charles Anderson, held a vigil in the Village Hall a few days after the crash. Chas had to take painkillers for her back injury for weeks and Liam was unable to return to work for a while due to his concussion.
Known casualties[]
- Suzy Merton - Suzy violently hit her head during the crash. Liam tried to resuscitate Suzy but he wasn't able to save her.
- Leyla Harding - Leyla had glass embedded in her side following the crash. She was taken to the ambulance but died on her way to hospital from severe blood loss.
- Amy Barton - Amy was taken to the hospital after she fell through the ice, where she was treated for hypothermia but she suffered two cardiac arrests and died later on.
- Nate Robinson - Not a casualty of the crash but the body was discovered on the same night when Amy saw a hand poking out a body wrapped in chains and bin-liners floating after she falls through the ice. At the hospital, Amy tried to inform her husband Matty about her discovery of the body but she passed away. Following the crash, the body remained undiscovered. On the next night, a hooded figure was seen watching the lake after emergency services left. In flashbacks airing in April 2025, it was revealed that John Sugden disposed of Nate’s body there and pretended that he left for Shetland.

- On 7th February, Emmerdale released teaser trailer of limo crash which shows a Valentine’s balloon leave float out of the Woolpack, before landing beside the crashed limo on the icy lake. A second trailer was released on 10th February online, despite the trailer being shown on TV days before actual release. It features brief glimpse of the moments before the crashes take place.
- Though told over multiple episodes, from Episode 10217 (14th February 2025) to Episode 10221/10222 (20th February 2025), the events of the crash took place on one day within the show's continuity.
