Wilf Padgett was a builder hired by landlord Henry Wilks to renovate The Woolpack in August and September 1974. Whilst renovating The Woolpack in August, the chimney fell in and spread dust throughout the packed pub, annoying co-landlord Amos Brearly, who was not on-side with the renovations.

Sam Pearson mentioned that he had known Wilf's father Percy when he was alive.

In April 1975, Wilf returned to fit a new post office counter into the shop. However he was annoyed by Lena Dawkins always chatting and disrupting his work.

In January 1976 Amos suggested that Wilf take a look in the huge crack in the fireplace that he had once installed, however Wilf was never called.
